We used system thinking as a mechanic to better understand how the stakeholders interacted with each other. Whether they were experienced professionals with their own uniqueness, or estranged yet passionate craftsmen that took a hit from consumerism, we wanted to understand how each one honed a unique process.

How might we discover, and help people discover unique processes? How might we even quantify them or relate them to their immediate environmental influences.

Have you ever wondered if you were doing something the right way or not?

Or maybe gone a step further to think about why you do things the way you do them at all?

In a 10-week long system thinking course, three of us as a team tackled ‘unique processes’. These processes are distinctive to you, and you alone, as they were forged through your experiences, your intuition, and your biases.

The goal of this project eventually became about helping you find your unique way of doing things, using system thinking and design as tools to assist us. In the process we discovered several crazy things like a design metaprocess, a playbook, fascinating people and an enormous sheet of paper to print our gigamap on.

workshop 1

workshop 1

Our first outcome from the how-might-we were the workshop. It had activities like hopeful hands, leader cycle, feedback bricks etc where we tries to enable, goal aligning, collaborative leadership, constructive feedback

stakeholders-

entrepreneurs, thinkers, starters, innovators

In order to better understand how to design around unique processes, we held gamified and relatable workshops with entrepreneurs and students.

workshop 2

workshop 2

taking inspiration form the first workshop we remodeled and structured the new model to cater to organizations and startups.

Artefacts like the Consultancy Worksheets and Break Cards were tried for the first time while mechanics from the previous model were reworked and built on.

Our curated Instagram page for the duration of this project contained vlogs to document our process as well as analogies that drove the project and our narrative further. This helped us reach out to more process wielders and gain further insights through basic polls.

Soon enough, we had developed what appeared to be a design metaprocess.

People should be aware of intuition and biases to make stronger inferences.

Understanding strengths and weaknesses is a key aspect to forming better teams.

Randomness is all around us, we should possess the triggers to make the best out of them.

Co-creation is the only way to create for greater causes and team dynamics play a vital role.

Reflecting on your past experiences, strengths, and moments of flow can lead to holistic growth.

Selfish motivations are driving factors to forming a vision to share out of inherent biases.

The Playbook

Curated games, tricks, analogies and exercises to get you to discover your unique way of doing! This playbook is made in a fun and accessible way for people of all ages and backgrounds to uncover what is unique about their unique process.

Break Cards

Through the humane lens, we discovered a system to take effective and productive breaks that stimulate our biases and bring our aspects of our personality, like motivate you or get you thinking creatively.

Entrepreneur Worksheets

Using our newfound design structuring from our secondary research and occupational analysis from our primary research we discovered ways we could connect occupations to each other, co-creating between them.

Drawing analogies helps more people relate to understanding and molding their processes accordingly.

Analogy

The Monomyth analogy lets us synthesize our data in a storyline format. We found a way to break the linearity by providing a narrator to define your journey through the giga map as you draw your own conclusions.

The Gigamap Era

A formally synthesized walkthrough of our project, based on Joseph Campbell’s storytelling mechanic ‘The Monomyth’ and guided by a narrator.

The unique process discovery is given the analogy of a ‘hero’ on a journey, as they travel through the framework and develop holistically.

Progress

The meandering spiral is based on the Monomyth structure. A hero begins at zero and ends on a higher level than before after passing through our framework.

This is built to visualize holistic development after the fragmented stages of the humane process framework we created

Biases

We’ve analagized BIASES and HEURISTIC NOTIONS, as baggage we carry on our journey. Identification of these internal factors is imperative to be able to understand yourself to embrace serendipity.

Alongside this we introduce the ‘Just in Case’ knapsack. This indicates traits you would want to carry with you - methodologies and motivation factors we have integrated in our framework.

Impact

The final stage of the map indicates the impact of following such a unique process on yourself scaling all the way to impact on society. Each factor is interlinked is the message we want to send.

By an individual being more passionate it could potentially bring about massive change in the world incrementally.

Our team (we went crazy). but we were able to identify more about ourselves, our processes and our uniqueness as a team through the progress or this project. This project was a huge pivot for us to discover our niches in industrial design.

So, we now needed to put our infinite thoughts down on paper for others to see. This could have very well been impossible, but we pulled through thanks to camaraderie and caffiene!
